In this full-time, Monday through Friday position, you will collaborate with staff to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and other applicable special projects. Responsible for identification of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients for inclusion in the program registry through the application of program criteria and protocol
Responsible for reliable collection of pre-operative, operative and post-operative data components through utilization of the hospital medical record system
Utilize available software applications for data collection and analysis
Review weekly site accrual report and respond to accrual report alerts
Responsible for the accurate and timely entry of data into the program’s website
Will meet expectation to meet the accrual requirement of cases per year through the application of the program’s randomization protocol
Attend weekly Morbidity and Mortality Conferences to ensure reliable data collection of postop occurrences
Demonstrate applicability of the methodology and the reliability of definitions utilized by reviewers through Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR) testing.
Identify areas for streamlining and process improvement in the data collection process.
Contact patients and/or families post-operatively to gather data regarding surgical procedures performed
Must have a current IL RN license
BSN or MSN required
Minimum three years clinical RN surgical experience required; cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery or surgical ICU experience preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel, Access and Word (testing will occur)
Clinical chart review and abstraction experience required
Must be very detail-orientedand an independent problem-solver
