Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs routine and complex diagnostic exams for various outpatient clinics, inpatients wards, ICU's, Emergency Department, and operating room procedures including; c-arm fluoroscopy for Orthopedics, and general surgery.
Reviews patient records for diagnosis, allergies and laboratory results prior to contrast administration. Consult with radiologist on any patient with allergies or abnormal laboratory values that are contradictive to contrast administration.
Operates computerized radiography as well as conventional Radiology equipment. Determines technical factors (i.e., calculates the correct exposure factors of time, distance, kilovoltage, and milliamperage), sets controls and operates equipment ensuring that the portion of the body specified receives the correct calculated exposure. Selects and sets technical factors for very difficult radiographic examinations. Sets up and adjusts accessory equipment required, and makes exposures necessary for requested procedures.
Maintains records and files of exams performed on patients. Edits and when necessary registers patients in the computerized Radiology Information System (RIS) as well as the work list management portion of the HIS-RIS interface.
Responsible to explain exams to competent patients so that the patient understands what will be done as well as any possible complications or side effects. May be required by procedure or patient's condition to monitor vital signs, recognize allergic reactions and initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Troubleshoots equipment used in diagnostic radiologic procedures and is able to make minor repairs and/or adjustments. Exercises extreme caution in the handling and safeguarding of all radiation producing equipment. Must recognize and report major equipment malfunctions within a timely manner to supervisor or Bio-med representative..
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday or Thursday - Monday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. May be subject to on-call and weekend/holiday rotations.

Federal Retirement Plan:

The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
