Associate / Full Professor – Director, Division of Respirology

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Respirology of the University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS) are seeking to recruit a visionary respirologist to lead their Division of Respirology, a division of the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. This is part of a single training program affiliated with the University of Toronto, Division of Respirology. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. This divisional director position is for a 5-year term, renewable once following a successful review and is supported by the GSK-CIHR Endowed Professorship in Respirology. Effective start date of appointment is July 1, 2020, or to be negotiated. The successful candidate will lead a large academically successful and diverse Respirology Division that includes Critical Care Medicine and Lung Transplantation. The lead for Critical Care Medicine will report directly to the successful candidate. The division has over 40 full time staff physicians across SHS and UHN who lead diverse and comprehensive tertiary programs. The successful applicant should be a visionary leader with sophisticated interpersonal skills, leadership experience and a track record of achievement in at least one of research, education, creative professional activity, system design and/or quality and safety. The Division Director will be expected to develop an academic strategic plan and fundraising program, and guide approaches to recruitment and enhancement of patient-centered quality and safety programs. She/he will be expected to bridge diverse groups, strengthen capacity across their research programmes, collaborate with Programs in other University of Toronto Teaching Hospitals, and work with the University Division Director to optimize the citywide Respirology Programme, and provide strong mentorship to trainees and faculty at all stages of career. At UHN, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Program Medical Director operations administrative lead to continue to develop leading academic and clinical programs in Respirology. The successful candidate must hold MD qualifications and have, or be eligible for licensure in Ontario. Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. |
Additional Salary Information: For the successful applicant, compensation will be negotiated and will be highly competitive with the usual income range for a senior academic respirologist in the Province of Ontario.
