JOB TITLE: Quality Improvement Specialist RN LOCATION: Geisinger Health Plan, Hughes Center DEPARTMENT: Population Health Solutions WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Leads process improvement efforts to support Department of Critical Care Medicine’s quality program and the BART (Basic resuscitation training) and ART (advanced resuscitation training) educational program, cardiac arrest /rapid response program. The role will encompass provide data capture and analytic support, development, implementation and evaluation of databases and reporting. Reports to the AVP for Pulmonary and Critical Care and the Directors of the Service Line.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the theory and principles of clinical performance improvement. Demonstrates knowledge of Performance Improvement principles, processes, and methods required. Demonstrates knowledge of governing body requirements that relate to Performance Improvement and Patient Safety. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with other Healthcare professionals required. Demonstrates ability to effectively lead / facilitate multidisciplinary cross functional teams to achieve productive results required. Demonstrates ability to develop educational/instructional content and conduct training sessions. Demonstrates ability with SQL / ACCESS and other database software products.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Nurse licensure in Pennsylvania or eligibility required, or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or equivalent required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of three years of Nursing practice experience in an acute care hospital or equivalent required. Work experience in the ICU environment preferred; previous Quality and safety improvement experience preferred. Computer skills that include creation and manipulation of basic databases and report generation required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in Critical Care office suites and clinical care areas (ICUs).
