Overview

The Nurse Manager assures the provision of nursing care services in collaboration with other health professionals. This unit is a 33-bed Adult Med/Surg unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical patients. R3E works closely with the Hospitalist physicians and the Hildreth Teaching Service Residents. Patients are commonly admitted for a multitude of different medical diagnosis ranging from infections, COPD, Pneumonia, sepsis, gastrointestinal complications, substance abuse withdrawal, diabetic complications and more.

Job Summary

  • 24/7 accountability for planning and comprehensive operations of assigned department

  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency in current practice and knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards within the field of nursing

  • Able to implement sound business and human resource management plans

  • Reports to the Division Director

  • Assumes fiscal responsibility for unit management.

  • Develops, monitors and evaluates personnel, operations and capital budgets

  • Identifies and implements value enhancement opportunities

  • Advocates for resources essential to support quality care and service

  • Engages direct care staff in analyzing data to guide budget development and monitoring of resource allocation

  • Demonstrates effective human resource management

  • Manages the annual goal setting and performance evaluation process

  • Manages work performance and behavior of staff; implements timely performance improvement plans and steps for corrective action

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing - required
  • Master of Science in Nursing and/or MBA - preferred
  • Previous unit director experience - preferred
  • Experience implementing and leading new initiatives
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
