Come to a department with heart and about heart. The Progressive Care Department (PCU) at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix provides comprehensive cardiac care to a complex patient population. Staff in PCU care for a wide variety of patients, such as vascular, cardio-thoracic surgical and heart failure, and offer treatment modalities such as left ventricular assist device (LVAD), leach therapy and ultrafiltration (used for HF patients no longer responding to diuretics).

When you join our Central Monitoring team as a Monitor Tech, you will be part of a team in charge of all patient's requiring cardiac monitoring within the facility. You have the opportunity to collaborate on a regular basis with the RNs and other members of the team on the floor assuring patient care. In this role you will also be responsible for maintaining logs of activity and changes or behaviors in accordance with facility standards. Schedule 3 -12 hour shift from 6pm - 6:30am. Weekend rotations are required in this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for continuous observation of patients' monitors, leads and/or activity and behaviors, and for reporting pertinent changes and abnormalities to the appropriate clinical staff. This position is also responsible for maintaining logs of activity and changes or behaviors in accordance with facility standards.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides continuous observation of monitors, leads and/or activity and behaviors for assigned patients. Must be aware of pertinent medical history, medications and code status for each of their assigned patients. Alerts appropriate clinical staff of any changes and abnormalities.

2. Obtains calibrated rhythm strips per policy and maintains documentation in accordance with facility standards. Documents changes in clinical and/or behavioral activity.

3. Provides information and summaries to physicians and staff.

4. Monitors and assists in the maintenance of monitoring equipment.

5. May provide general support to the department, including greeting and assisting patients, visitors, physicians, and ancillary personnel.

6. Works under general supervision. Interacts with all levels of staff within the facility, physicians, patients, families and external contacts and vendors.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Current BLS certification may be required in certain departments.

Depending on department assignment, completion of unit approved basic electrocardiogram -OR- electroencephalographic interpretation course or on the job training - and - a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG -OR- EEG test, with accurate identification of all lethal cardiac dysrhythmias - OR - epileptiform activity. Must possess a working knowledge of medical terminology. Requires effective interpersonal and problem solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
