JOB SUMMARY
The Attending Physician VI provides care to patients at the Ruth M. Rothstein (RMR) CORE Center for evaluation and management of possible sexually transmitted infections (STI). Provides primary care to patients living with HIV and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to those at risk for acquiring HIV infection. This entails providing comprehensive and continuing primary health care for both male and female adult patients (aged >=18) with an emphasis on providing care to patients with HIV/AIDS. The Attending Physician VI consults and teaches residents and students in all facets of STI and HIV/AIDS care. Adheres to all federal, local and department rules and regulations.
Typical Duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalent
* Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine or anticipated completion prior to starting employment
* Licensed as a Physician in the State of Illinois or the ability to obtain prior to starting employment
* Board certified or Board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine or ability to obtain prior to starting employment
* Valid Illinois Controlled Substance License or ability to obtain License prior to starting employment
* Valid licensure with the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or eligible to obtain licensure by start of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
* One (1) year of post-residency experience in caring for patients living with HIV/AIDS or STI care.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
* Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to ensure the protection of the confidentiality and security of healthcare information for all patients.
* Sensitivity and respect in caring for patients and in dealing with patients, family members, trainees, and CCH staff of diverse backgrounds.
