Job Summary:
A Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to patients of all ages,within their scope ofexperience and training in the inpatient,clinic, physician office, outpatient and/or other facility settings. They mustadminister nursing care using good judgment, methods, and skills under thedirection of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
Responsibilities:
AObserves, monitors, and records physiological measurements. AProvides treatment to patients per organizational protocols.AAssists providers with patient examinations, therapeutic measures, andprocedures. AAssessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patients and plansfor patient care.AIdentifying and providing for physical, emotional, and developmentalpatient needs.ACounseling and providing health education to patients and their families;explaining the procedures planned for the patient.AResponsible for strict administration, control, and dispensation ofprescription medication in accordance with organizational policy.ANotifying the appropriate provider promptly of unusual reactions andchanges in conditions.APerforms functions of a Surgical Scheduler as needed and requested.AInitiates, issues and verifies patient referrals and insuranceauthorization/pre-certifications as necessary.ASafeguarding and inventorying equipment and supplies.AFollowing Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.AAbility to establish communication with appropriate sources inresponse to emergency situations.AParticipates in performance improvement activities, staff trainings,weekly team huddles.AMaintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.ARespects patients by recognizing their rights; maintainingconfidentiality.AUtilizes technology, including specialized software as applicable, tomaximize productivity.ADevelops and maintains electronic files as necessary. AExhibits excellent interpersonal skills; provides customer service;assists other support staff as necessary; collaborates with all levels ofinternal leadership, management, and staff as well as outside clients, vendors,and other external parties.AMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attendingeducational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishingpersonal networks, and participating in professional societies.AOther duties as assigned.Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:
Minimumone (1) year of nursing experience preferred.
Education:
Graduate degree from anaccredited licensed practical nurse program required.
Licenses / Certifications:
Current New York State LPN license. Maintenance of current Cardio PulmonaryResuscitation (CPR) for HealthCare Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)certification for HealthCare workers.
Other:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office(Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
