In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. Exceptions are permitted for those employees who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption.
*Staff working at a MSK New Jersey location must be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination, which includes having completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series and booster once eligible as mandated by New Jersey State. All New Jersey staff not yet eligible for a booster must receive a booster within 3 weeks of becoming eligible as a condition of continued employment at MSK.
Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster five months after receiving the second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two months after the J&J vaccine.
Job Description
We are seeking a Pulmonary Function Technologist for our state-of-the-art cancer treatment center in Manhattan's Upper East Side, The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. This world-class facility has six plethysmograph-equipped pulmonary diagnostic laboratories and offers the highest standards of comprehensive cancer care, in an environment designed to meet the unique needs of cancer patients and their families.
You Are:
- Motivated to provide outstanding customer service.
- Adaptable in your approach and demeanor in real-time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
- Able to use specialized knowledge and job-related experience to handle complex work assignments and/or provide mentorship to other less experienced staff.
You Will:
- Perform Pulmonary Function Tests (spirometry, plethysmographic lung volumes, diffusing capacity, inspiratory and expiratory forces), Cardiopulmonary Exercise Tests, Bronchial Provocation, Sputum Induction and Arterial Puncture accurately, completely, and efficiently as per Department Guidelines and approved protocols.
- Review test results and determine the need for additional tests as per the approved protocol.
- Monitor patient flow and schedules urgent requests with minimal direction.
- Maintain accurate records and logs and advises the Supervisor and/or medical staff as indicated.
- May perform special studies as needed.
You Have:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree with at least one year of proven experience required.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) are required, Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) preferred. Acceptable candidates without the CPFT credential will be given assistance in obtaining this.
- Experience with Morgan plethysmography and MGC Diagnostics exercise systems preferred.
