DescriptionThe Shoda Lab As a physician-scientist bridging between the bed and bench, Dr. Shoda's mission is to improve the lives of patients with severe allergies and their families by accelerating translational research. The Shoda Lab aims to establish future precision medicine by the comprehensive, personalized characterization of genetic, molecular and clinical features of severe allergies, including eosinophilic conditions. The extent of clinical burden of eosinophilic diseases, such as severe eosinophilic asthma and eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGID), and the complexity of their disease pathogenesis are intriguing and challenging. Through translational and clinical research, the Shoda Lab at Cincinnati Children's identifies key genes and genetic regulatory mechanisms that predispose to eosinophilic conditions, especially EGID, with the goal of improving understanding, diagnosis, and treatment.
