ChristianaCare is currently recruiting for a highly motivated and skilled Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our Cardiovascular Critical Care Complex (Medical). This is a full-time flex position on our Newark campus and consists of a combination of weekday, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Ideally, looking for providers who have a preference for working nights. Responsibilities in the unit include admitting and managing multiple critically ill patients in collaboration with intensivists, fellows, and residents. The ideal candidate for this position is comfortable working in a high acuity, fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy. It is preferred that candidate have at least 1 year of critical care experience, but new graduates will be considered. Formal individualized onboarding and orientation will be provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Manage care of the critically ill patient collaboratively with other caregivers within established protocols, guidelines, and scope of practice
- Utilizes teaching/learning principles coupled with expert clinical knowledge to promote and provide education to patients and their families
- Act as liaison for patients, families, and health professionals
- Perform various bedside procedures including arterial catheterization, central venous catheterization, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, first assist tracheostomy, PEG tubes
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Physician Assistant must be a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program and have NCCPA Certification
- Nurse Practitioner requires a Masters' degree, with degree specialization as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Preferred minimum of 1 year critical care experience, will consider new graduates
- License or license eligible for the State of Delaware
- Prescriptive authority and controlled substance license for state of Delaware
- Federal DEA
- BLS and ACLS certification
