JOB SUMMARY
The Mgr, Research Programs directly reports to the Program Director of the Center for Drug Safety and Immunology,(CDSI), serving as Program Manager for all CDSI clinical research studies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting in the development of research and clinical trial documents, monitoring assurance standards and procedures in the team, and management and tracking of all grants, reports, and contracts (including all deadlines). Further, the Mgr. Research Programs must demonstrate ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and possesses exemplary communication and leadership skills. Such an individual will play a key role in the growth and promotion of the CDSI and will liaise with the community organizations and foundations that CDSI works with closely.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports the CDSI Program Director in the Administrative oversite of the Center.
Manages and prioritizes all components of a clinical research program(s).
Communicates and models values and mission of VUMC.

Develop clinical study budgets and negotiate with sponsors as well as internal departments
Exercise judgment and prepare supporting or correcting documentation regarding Institutional and Federal billing policies.
Assures the development of staff members through orientation, training programs and work experience.
Strives to develop individualized professional development plan to guide staff to success, focusing on areas needing growth.
Works with the Program Director to recommend personnel action, including hiring, promotions and terminations.
Counsels employees with regard to disciplinary actions taken in response to violations of institution/department policies.
Communicates in and across teams to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and information sharing.
Monitor quality assurance standards, programs and procedures within the unit/area
Analyzes situations/events, develops recommendations/plans and prepares presentations/conclusions.

The Vanderbilt Department of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases is dedicated to enhancing prevention and treatment of infectious diseases through discovery and application of new knowledge that is seamlessly integrated with mentoring trainees to become the next generation of national leaders in the field.
