Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for a Pediatric Surgeon. The selected individual will join a diverse practice in a division of 3 full-time clinical faculty, 2 part-time clinical faculty, and 2 nurse practitioners. Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. The predominant criteria for appointment are: a commitment to teaching, excellence in clinical care and institutional service. The ideal candidate for this position is highly adaptable as the practice sees a high volume of patients and provides coverage in different practice models. Candidates should be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above and should be able to start in July 2023.
Rush University Medical Center is an academic medical center that encompasses a 669-bed hospital serving adults and children. In January 2012, Rush opened a new 376-bed hospital building, known as the Tower, which is part of the Medical Center's major renovation of its campus. In this building is housed the new state of the art 70 bed NICU with all private rooms.
Rush has a very robust Maternal-Fetal center and recruits high risk mothers from across the Midwest. The 16 bed PICU is staffed by in-house intensivists and supports both a busy neurosurgical and cardiac surgical practice. Rush currently is an ELSO certified center of excellence for ECMO. All pediatric subspecialty practices are represented within the Department of Pediatrics and the pediatric residency program is one of the highest rated in Chicago.
