Description

An open position in the Lowance Center for Human Immunology at Emory University. The candidate will join our multi-disciplinary team of immunologists, biologists, and bioinformaticians(bioinformatics expertise is an advantage).

The Project: The candidate will lead exciting new projects on human immunology recently funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the Ghosn Lab (www.ghosnlab.science). The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art technologies on multi-omics single-cell sequencing assays, and Hi-D flow cytometry. We use several model organisms including humanized mice, transgenic mice for in vivo lineage tracing, and human samples from healthy and diseased donors. The project is focused on human developmental immunology using in vivo and ex vivo models, and will leverage our newly developed pipeline named SuPERR-seq. SuPERR-seq simultaneously measures and integrates total gene expression, B-cell and T-cell receptor (BCR/TCR) repertoire, cell-surface markers, and CRISPR-derived cell barcodes for in vivo lineage tracing models. The results from your project should provide new insights into the development and function of the human immune system in infants and adults and impact the development of new vaccines that are targeted to either children or adults. In addition, your studies will shed new light on the mechanisms that lead to autoimmunity, inflammatory diseases and other hematological disorders (leukemia/lymphoma, immunodeficiency, etc.) that are predominant at different developmental ages. Working conditions: We value creative thinkers and outside-the-box problem solvers. You will join a vibrant team of researchers at various ages, career levels, interests and research background. The laboratory is new and located in an open-space concept in the second floor of a sunlight-drenched research building at Emory (HSRB building). The state-of-the-art equipment and resources needed for this project are located inside the same building, and all the single-cell assays are performed in house within the Ghosn Lab. Work schedule is flexible. Salary is commensurate with experience. The Ghosn lab members also have access to resources from our affiliated institutions. We are affiliated to the Emory Vaccine Center/Yerkes Primate Center, Bioinformatics Program at Georgia Tech, Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, Children's Hospital, and more.
