JOB SUMMARY
The Molecular Diagnostics/Immunology laboratory Supervisor will oversee technologist performance of testing methods primarily in molecular diagnostics with some diagnostic immunology. Preference will be given to those applicants that have significant molecular testing knowledge including a working understanding of the principles of PCR, Real-Time PCR, Sanger Sequencing (Dye-Terminator), Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Nucleic acid extraction, basic bioinformatics related to molecular testing, and other high-complexity techniques for molecular laboratory testing. The supervisor will also collaborate with the section medical director, technologists, technical specialists, and laboratory manager to oversee different aspects of implementation of new diagnostic tests in both the molecular diagnostics and diagnostic immunology laboratories. The diagnostic immunology laboratory currently performs tests such as basic Antibody testing for infectious diseases (mumps, measles, Syphilis, Tuberculosis), and protein and hemoglobin electrophoresis.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure
- B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- Medical Technology Certification by ASCP
Work Experience (Years and Area)
- 5 yrs. experience as a general Med. Tech or Med. Tech specialist in Hospital or Clinical Lab.
- Experience in Diagnostic Immunology / Molecular highly preferred.
