Summary
POSITION: Endocrinologist
JOB DUTIES: Evaluate, diagnose, provide consultation and medically manage and treat patients with endocrine disorders. Diagnosis and treat diseases associated with internal glandular secretions or hormones. Manage patients with diseases of thyroid gland, lipid abnormalities, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetes mellitus, growth issues, osteoporosis in the hormone producing adrenal glands, pituitary glands, hormonal disorders causing infertility, low blood sugar, lack of development and low blood pressure and weight problems. Advise, order and perform tests and interpret the results. Discuss diagnoses of complex endocrine conditions with patients, explaining treatment options and give advice on medications. Give advice on medications, lifestyle, dietary changes and other preventative measures.
HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

REQUIREMENTS
Main Experience: Medical Doctorate degree (or foreign equivalent degree) and Board Certification in Internal Medicine. Requires fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism or a similar fellowship. Must have an active South Carolina medical license.
Special Skills: Also requires experience in the following:
- Interpreting laboratory studies and effects of non-endocrine disorders;
- Interpreting radiologic studies for diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and metabolic diseases including radionuclide localization of endocrine tissue and ultrasonography of the soft tissues of the neck;
- Radiologic measurements of bone density and performance of other tests used in the management of osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases;
- Conducting ultrasounds and other tests to determine the cause of the symptoms;
- Creation of medical management plans;
- Chart Completion; and
- Thyroid-stimulating hormones (TSH) for Patients with Thyroid Modules.
