The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine has an opening for a full-time Associate Professor or Professor.
Nature of Work:
This is a full time Open Rank Faculty position (Associate Professor/Professor) in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Children’s Hospital Colorado. We are seeking a dynamic, patient-centered, research focused, board certified sleep medicine physician to lead our expanding and dynamic program. Completion of pediatric pulmonary training is a plus but not required. We welcome candidates with residency training in Pulmonary, Neurology, Psychiatry, General Pediatrics, Family Medicine and any other residency training prior to sleep medicine fellowship. Candidates with a significant background in sleep research that have a successful/proven track record in grants would be strongly considered.
The section of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine has 53 faculty members (to include MD, DO, PhD, Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Faculty) with on-going interests in asthma, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, sleep medicine, the pediatric airway and medical education.
This position will provide programmatic leadership for the Pediatric Sleep Program (35%) with the remaining time allocation dedicated to clinical and/or research activities (65%).

Supervision Received:
This position reports to the Section Head, Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine
Supervision Exercised:
This position supervises primarily sleep-focused providers and leaders in the section to include Sleep Lab Surgical Director, the Associate Director for Sleep Behavioral Medicine, Associate Medical Director of the Sleep Lab in Colorado Springs, Sleep Program Fellowship Director, and other sleep providers, such as APPs/PAs.
Examples of Work Performed:
Responsibilities for the Sleep Program Medical Director include but are not limited to:
0.35FTE Sleep Program Director
- The organization, planning, and directing of clinical programming for the Sleep Program, in partnership with CHCO Breathing Institute medical and administrative leadership, CHCO Respiratory Care Director, and the CHCO Sleep Laboratory Director and Sleep Program Manager.
- Provide leadership (in collaboration with other MD/CHCO leadership) for sleep clinics, inpatient sleep studies, and sleep research in the areas of expansion, teaching, advocacy, clinical care, etc.
- Provide direction and input to other medical and administrative leaders of the sleep program.
- Bring provider concerns to the attention of clinic leadership and ambulatory administration to improve clinical services
0.65cFTE Clinical/Research
- Conduct outpatient clinics (sleep) at Anschutz, network of care (NOC) and/or NOC regional locations at 3-4 half day clinics per week
- Clinical activities include sleep study interpretations/managing red folders/direct sleep study assignments amongst providers
- Attending on the sleep inpatient service.
- Participate in teaching and scholarly activities for the section, Department of Pediatrics and School of Medicine as needed
- Additional service responsibilities could expand dependent on successful candidates training
- Division of clinical and research responsibilities would be considered and could be adjusted based on successful candidate’s portfolio
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:
Associate Professor: $217,684 to $238,870
Professor: $249,224 to $274,238
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Associate Professor:
- MD/DO
- Board Certification in Sleep Medicine
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado prior to start date
- Five (5) years of experience in the practice of sleep medicine and/ or other specialized discipline
Professor:
- MD/DO
- Board Certification in Sleep Medicine
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado prior to start date
- Eight (8+) years of experience in the practice of sleep medicine and/ or other specialized discipline
Conditions of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prescriptive Authority
- Experience and proficiency with electronic medical health record systems
- Previous leadership experience, formal and informal, a plus
- Evidence of scholarship in sleep medicine a plus
- Strong commitment to teaching and mentoring responsibilities
