Position Objective:
Provides supervised medical services for patients with emphasis on acute/same day care, in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. All duties are in collaboration with contracted physician, services are provided under the rules regulations, and policies established by the approved job description of the State of Maryland, BPQA, HCFA, AMA, and AAMC.
Essential Job Duties:
Provides education and counsel appropriate to the medical needs of the patient.
Maintains current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by Maryland State Law.
May assist surgeons in the operating room
May perform or assist in technical clinical procedures such as chest tube management, bronchoscopy, placing and removal central lines
Performs history and physical examinations
Assists in discharge planning and evaluates pre- and post-operative patients
Participates in interdisciplinary inpatient rounding
Participation of on-call service as assigned
Assist with data collection and database management for quality review
Communicates treatment / therapy progress with individuals who have the responsibility or control in patient care intervention.
Refers patients to appropriate licensed physician or other health care provider as condition or circumstances warrant.
Other duties as assigned.

Educational/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Graduate of an accredited school of medicine.
Two years’ experience as a PA/NP in an acute care setting preferred.
Required License/Certifications:
Licensed as a Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or eligible
