The Cleveland Clinic Respiratory Institute announces its search for an individual to lead the Asthma Program, in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine. The Cleveland Clinic Asthma Program is a founding member of the Severe Asthma Research Program and the PreCISE trial network, with mature clinical and academic dimensions.
The Director of the Asthma Program will have substantial experience in the study and/or clinical care of severe asthma. Experience with adult asthma is preferred, but pediatric asthma specialists may also be considered. The Cleveland Clinic has a strong, experienced, fully staffed multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality clinical care. There are well-established and highly linked basic and translational research programs in the Lerner Research Institute at Cleveland Clinic. The team is active in quality improvement, which is considered a cornerstone of the center. The program has grown tremendously over the last five years, with ten core clinical faculty members and more than 700 severe asthma visits annually at locations throughout Northeast Ohio. With incorporation of clinical activities in Florida and Abu Dhabi, there is a chance to lead an expanding team to standardize and improve asthma care in diverse geographic settings.
A variety of career phenotypes can be successful in this position, including individuals primarily focused on preclinical research, translational research, advocacy, or clinical research. The successful candidate will mentor junior faculty in the clinical care and research associated with asthma, and work closely with colleagues in the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Pediatrics, Imaging, and the Lerner Research Institute.
The Department is particularly interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. CCLCM is a five-year program that trains medical students to become physician investigators, integrating basic science, research and clinical medicine.
