Job Summary
Responsible for the clinical coordination, administration, operation and management of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program. The individual in this job position works with customers from the following age specific groups; adult, and geriatric.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Licensure or other certifications: Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology or Kinesiology required.
Minimum Experience: Four (4) years nursing or EP experience, with two (2) years in intensive coronary care or Cardiopulmonary Rehab (Phase (II and III), including testing experience, exercise prescription and conducting exercise therapy sessions required.
Other: Must have strong understanding of principles of AACVPR

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Establishes and meets individual and departmental goals and objectives for the year. Reports achievement measurements annually.
Assures the quality of work of the employees within the Cardiac Rehab Department. Responsible for making departmental personnel action decisions (employment selection, promotion, demotion, and termination) with Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation input and approval as needed; providing staff development, orientation, ongoing education, counseling, referral assistance, and discipline; establishing/overseeing work schedules and assignments as needed to maintain departmental coverage at all times; and completing all employee reports and records according to established time frames including Performance evaluations, Time and attendance and payroll records, disciplinary actions and personnel action forms. Provides job description and orients new staff members within first two-three weeks of employment, according to written orientation plan. Submits copy of completed checklist to Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation within one month. Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with all staff in order to review, plan and coordinate activities of the specific areas/programs and assures documentation of all meetings in defined NGHS format. Plans meaningful learning experiences for staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge in the form of in-service programs, demonstrations, facility site visits or related activities at least four times a year.
Responsible for the cost effectiveness of Cardiopulmonary Rehab to achieve optimal financial viability for the Rehabilitation Institute and NGHS. Assists in the preparation of the annual Cardiopulmonary Rehab operating and capital budget in accordance with NGHS procedures. Operates Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehab within the budget maintaining departmental profitability, and productivity standards and reports outstanding variances as necessary. Maintains and monitors up-to-date records (i.e. membership/program fees, billing, referral sources, equipment maintenance, supplies/inventory.
Ensures Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary are in compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, JCAHO requirements, and regional/national guidelines for cardiopulmonary rehab programs. Develops and maintains written policies and procedures, revising manual annually. Ensures implementation and compliance of departmental and organizational policies and procedures by all appropriate staff. Reviews JCAHO requirements at least once per year and ensures that compliance requirements are shared with staff. Annually reviews and appropriately revises the departmental PI program in addition to ongoing monitoring of quality assurance, program evaluation, and patient/customer care to insure implementation of performance improvement measures. Maintains professional growth and knowledge of new laws and guidelines affecting hospital cardiac rehab and pulmonary programs through professional membership in state/national organization(s) and attends an annual cardiac rehab/heart-health related or management-related seminars/workshops.
Responsible for the quality of customer care/service provided by the services and programs of the Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehab Programs. Measures customer satisfaction in the Cardiac Rehab and pulmonary rehab programs with quarterly and/or biannual customer satisfaction surveys with a targeted minimum score of 3.0 overall. Periodically discusses and reviews billing operations, clinical and exercise operations and other programs, documentation and follow-up with staff providing suggestions for modification as necessary. As necessary, carries customer/member case loads and performs all necessary duties and responsibilities of staff. Plans and/or oversees all activities of students and technicians with designated staff and evaluates as needed. Assists with and/or delegates staff in the promotion and implementation of various programs and activities of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department.
