Cardiothoracic Surgeon
UVA Health, in collaboration with Newport News, Virginia-based Riverside Health System ("RHS"), is currently searching for a dynamic and highly skilled Cardiothoracic Surgeon. As part of the newly formed strategic alliance between UVA Health and RHS, this full time role will be based at 450-bed Riverside Regional Medical Center ("RRMC") in Newport News and employment will be with the University of Virginia Physicians Group. Additionally, this position will be a closely affiliated member of the UVA School of Medicine's Cardiothoracic Surgery Division. Preferred candidates will play a vital role in the growth and distinctive program development of RRMC's cardiothoracic surgery program which is a new strategic affiliate of UVA Health.
The program is led by Dr. Art Martella, RHS's Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery in close collaboration with Dr. Ourania Preventza, Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures with precision and expertise.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to provide the highest quality patient care.
- Engage in teaching and research opportunities as a member of the UVA Cardiothoracic Surgery Division.
- Contribute to the development of innovative approaches in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Completion of an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship program.
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
- State medical licensure in Virginia or eligibility to obtain it.
- Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and quality.
