The Section Chief - Hospitalist duties involve administration and patient care on both non-teaching and teaching services, in addition to leading and/or supporting a range of facility performance measures to optimize employee engagement, patient experience, and patient outcomes.
Competitive Starting Salary $265,000 - $320,000
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm.
Serves as Section Chief of Hospital Medicine for the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, providing leadership and guidance to assigned clinical and administrative staff, complying with Medical Center policies and the Medical Staff bylaws.
Provides direct patient care in inpatient setting.
Observes patient responses, testing procedures, use of equipment and review of patient records.
Thoroughly documents examinations and histories using appropriate programs and forms.
Provides education to other physicians and healthcare professionals regarding medical disorders and their treatments.
Provides education, supervision, and mentoring to medical students and residents in medical disorders and their treatments.
Participates in special duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff or Chief of Medicine, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center.
Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
Completes all medical records (including discharge summaries) in accordance with Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
Degree of doctor of medicine
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completed Residency Training
Board certified in Internal Medicine
