The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for daily consults (trauma, ED and floor consults), procedures consisting of fracture and joint reductions, joint aspirations, I&D's, casting and splinting.  Other responsibilities consist of OR first assisting and daily rounds. No call.  Monthly education consisting of fracture conference, PA lectures and hand conference.  CME awarded for all lectures.  Four-month training for all new hires. 

Schedule to include, 40 hours per week with some nights. Varying 10 and 12 hour shifts with 1-2 days off per week.  Occasional weekends and holiday coverage.  

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. This may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow-ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs. Within this position the PA or NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice, this will be outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process.
